Thank you for not assuming that history began in 1990, as so many people seem to do. Honestly, people were complaining about the hippies that were homeless and quasi-homeless back in the 1960s, and I'm betting the beatniks of the 1950s got some grief too. Before that, well, I can't rely on my own memory and I've have to go dig up back issues of the Chronicle.
